Staff from The London Ambulance have raised over £56,000 for disabled children following a year of fundraising which included a journey to Mongolia, running the London marathon and a two day football match.

A cheque was presented to MERU, an Epsom based charity which designs and builds specialist mobility equipment for disabled children, at the last fundraising event of the year on December 6 - a carol concert held at St Pauls Church in Covent Garden.

MERU was the organisation’s charity of the year, chosen by its chief executive, Peter Bradley.

He said: “Staff have generously supported the charity and hopefully their tremendous efforts have made a real difference to the youngsters MERU helps.”

Susan Brumpton, MERU’s chief executive, said: “I’m absolutely delighted by the enthusiasm and warmth of the London ambulance staff who fundraised for MERU. All the money raised will be used to transform the lives of disabled children, children like Mia who has a rare genetic condition and is very small for her age.

“Thank you again and we hope the many friends we have made will stay in touch for years to come.”

A new charity will be nominated next year.
