A mum-of-three has given £2,500 to the Sutton and Epsom Rugby club after winning the money in an Ultimate Family Hero competition.

Sophie Muncaster, from Gander Green Lane in Cheam, won the money by reaching the finals of the competition being run by Volkswagen.

Mrs Muncaster's three children -Maximus six, Monty, four, and Tallulah, one, - entered her into the competition by creating a video to show why she is the Ultimate Family Hero.

Mrs Muncaster, 35, said: “My kids did this really sweet video about me saying 'We think our mum is the ultimate family hero because she is mummy to us three kids and set up her own business after being made redundant and is doing really well at that'.”

If Mrs Muncaster wins the competition, which is open to the public vote, she will win a further £2,500 for the club and a Volkswagen car for her family.

She said: “They asked who my chosen charity would be and I wanted to so something in the local community that would really make a difference. It was a no brainer.

“Five thousand pounds will make a massive difference to the club, the community and my own kids.

“I am very humbled to be nominated, but to be in the final three is unbelievable.”

In her bid to win the competition, Mrs Muncaster had to complete another video in which she organised a mini five nations tournament at the rugby club. She was given a Sharan car to use while she did it.

She said: Making the video was such an exciting experience. “I thoroughly enjoyed the day and hop people like the end result.

“We don't have a car so to win one would make life much easier – it means we could take the children on more days out together as a family.”
