A Staines teenager is putting her best stilleto forward as she could be in the running to be the next Miss World.

Student Jenny Hazell, 19, of Worpole Road, has reached the last 20 of Miss Fresh Face. If she gets enough votes to take the title she will be entered into the Miss England competition, with the chance of jetting across the globe as Miss World.

Miss Hazell, who lives with her mum, said: “I do a lot of acting work so thought I would just send my picture off because these competitions are not just about your looks, they are about who you are.

“I was so surprised when I got an email telling me I was through to the last 20. My mum is incredibly proud and so is my fiance Jason, although he doesn’t like all of the male attention.

“It sounds a bit silly but if you feel very strongly about issues it is a great platform to get your voice heard.

“For me I feel very strongly about eating disorders and have written a script about them. If you are Miss World or even Miss England you can really get the chance to make a difference.”

Former Miss Englands include Danielle Lloyd who scooped the title in 2004, and went on to appear in Big Brother and front an anti-bullying campaign in Liverpool.
