A couple who met in a blackout during the Second World War have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
Jack Stocker, 91, and his wife Gladys, 89, raised six children at their house in Field Lane, Teddington.
Their daughter Liz Beal said her father could not see her mother, who was born in St John’s Road, Hampton Wick, when he first met her but decided he liked her voice.
Mr Stocker has contributed to a book entitled Edwardian Teddington, published last year, by passing on his mother’s memories of the area to historian Ken Howe.
The couple, who moved to Bracknell in 1967, celebrated their anniversary with their family on Wednesday, April 4.
They have 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
