Commuters jammed into shorter trains vented their fury at South West Trains via Twitter this morning.

Peter Parkin also had a message for the rail operator and said: "dozens left on platform at Whitton, short form keeps happening despite promises to the contrary! Why?"
South West Trains aplogised to the many frustrated passengers and said: "Sorry for this- due to more trains than normal needing maintenance today we have less trains available than normal."
