Traffic is queuing on the A3 southbound following lane closures from an overturned lorry.

Surrey Police attended the single vehicle accident just before 11am on Thursday, December 1.

The multi-coloured Mercedes tipper lorry was travelling in the southbound carriageway when it turned on to its side before coming to a stop, blocking lanes one and two of the motorway close to the Cobham junction of the M25.

Surrey Fire and Rescue Service attended following reports of smoke coming from the vehicle.

The driver sustained minor hand injuries but was otherwise unharmed.

Police closed the southbound carriageway of the A3 for about half an hour while the vehicle was recovered and diesel and oil which split on the carriageway cleared.

The southbound carriageway has now been partially reopened to ease traffic congestion and the road is expected to fully reopen shortly.
