An adult gambling licence for a store in New Malden High Street will be on the agenda this week.

Agora Gaming has applied to double the number of gambling machines allowed under its licence for 121 High Street, which was granted in September 2007 but never taken up.

It is currently a pound shop owned by the company.

An adult gaming licence allows the holder to operate a maximum of four machines paying up to £500 and an unlimited number of machines paying out up to £5.

But by splitting the building into two it would be allowed eight machines.

Kingston police said splitting the building in two was contrary to recent gambling guidelines. Councillors sitting on the licensing committee will make a decision on Monday evening.
