Residents were today urged to have their say on planned improvements to Crane Park at two open sessions.

The meetings will allow park-goers to see the type of work Hounslow and Richmond councils want to be carried out at the park, which runs through both boroughs.

The park is set to be given a make-over after more than 6,000 people voted for the green space to win £400,000 worth of landscaping improvements. The cash comes as part of London Mayor Boris Johnson’s Help a London Park competition.

As part of the sessions park-goers will be given the chance to comment on the materials and designs proposed for the improvement work.

Councillor Geoff Acton, Richmond Council’s cabinet member for environment said: “We want to make sure everyone who uses Crane Park is aware of what is being planned, and that they have had the chance to tell us their thoughts before work starts.

“We’re grateful for the Mayor of London’s help to make Crane Park an exciting place for families to enjoy a day out and I’m looking forward to seeing the work in progress.”

Councillor Becky Stewart, Hounslow Council's executive member for leisure, said: “This is a chance for all our residents to get involved and give us their views on the proposals. I urge anyone who uses the park to come and let us know what they think.”

The first open session will be held next Saturday, between midday and 2pm, at Heathfield School, in Cobbett Road, Twickenham.

The second will take place between 6pm and 8pm, on Wednesday, February 24, at Crane Park Primary Children’s School, in Norman Avenue, Hanworth.
