Controversial plans for a multi-storey budget hotel have been put on hold over fears it could cause a traffic nightmare.
Councillors spent more than two hours discussing the empty office block, Kershaw House, in Great West Road, Hounslow, but decided there was not enough travel information to agree to a new 20-room hotel.
David Blachett, of Heston Residents’ Association, claim-ed the hotel would dominate the area and cause parking chaos for tenants in Septon Court.
Mr Blachett said: “This will create a domineering effect and has a far greater impact on the community than the current building does.
“It will impact the quality of life generally.”
Septon Court tenants complained 64 hotel parking spaces were not enough and said the problem of illegal parking in their car park would increase.
But the developer, Redgate Properties, which said the demand for hotels would increase because of Heathrow, offered to install a barrier for tenants and pledged cash for job training.
Councillor Jon Hardy said: “Anyone can go up to Lampton Road not at peak time and still find it a nightmare. I am not clear how you get into the hotel, these plans definitely need some work.”
Councillors deferred the plans and requested traffic reports.
