Firefighters from Chiswick were called to a busy supermarket car park after a car engine burst into fire yesterday afternoon.
Staff from Sainsbury’s in Chiswick called the London Fire Brigade after they noticed flames coming from the bonnet of the Mercedes at around 2pm The crew battled with the fire for almost half-an-hour.
It is thought the fire was caused by a technical fault with the car.
No one was hurt in the incident and is not being treated as suspicious.
A parked car next to the Mercedes was also sprayed with water and moved after firefighters feared the blaze would spread.
