A flood alert has been issued for Kingston and Epsom after it was predicted heavy rain could cause the banks of the River Hogsmill to overflow today.
The Environment Agency issued the warning for the Hogsmill catchment area after weather reports indicated that heavy rain could lead to up to 30mm of rain falling in just one hour.
The agency said a flood warning could be issued later on if the weather reports prove correct.
