The winners of a newly-launched competition to find the borough’s most talented young musicians will get the opportunity to perform live on stage at Epsom and Ewell’s first arts festival this summer.

The team behind the MgSO4 Festival launched the competition, and will offer four winners the chance to perform in Derby Square on Sunday, June 26 - the last day of the festival.

From November: First ever Epsom and Ewell Arts Festival comes to the borough next June

First ever Epsom and Ewell Arts Festival comes to the borough next June.

Entrants will be judged by internationally renowned professional musicians and composers.

The competition is open to all young musicians and singers aged 18 or under and who go to school or live in Epsom and Ewell.

Andy Haldane, of guitarguitar in Capitol Square, Epsom, which is sponsoring the festival, said: “So many of our staff and customers rely on a burgeoning creative community to allow them to connect with other musicians in the area, and to help pursue their musical ambitions, and this competition and event are at the very heart of this.”

Entrants may select one of two categories: classical or contemporary.

First place winners from each category will each receive music vouchers to the value of £75, with second place getting £25 vouchers.

One lucky winner will get a Yamaha Revstar RS 320 electric guitar worth £300, courtesy of Yamaha and Epsom’s guitarguitar store.

To enter, submit a link to a YouTube video of yourself performing a solo piece by Wednesday, June 1.
