Orchid Close has been closed off and people have been asked to avoid the area.
Bruce Rutland, who lives near the house, said: "I was a little concerned as I saw it out of my back window so went over to investigate.
"Thank God everyone was okay. I spoke to the neighbour next door and she was in bits.
"There's going to be a lot of smoke and water damage to all the adjoining properties."
A London Fire Brigade spokesman said: “We were called to Orchid Close. We have taken quite a few calls from members of the public.”
