Epsom Methodist Church’s Chinese congregation marked Chinese New Year with a banquet, decking out the community hall with decorations.
Matthew Tong said the 100-member strong group enjoyed traditional sweets and cakes, as well as plenty of Chinese fare.
The long-time member said: “We merged two prominent Epsom Chinese church groups to make sure there were plenty of people around.
“We put up a load of posters and wall decorations like Chinese lanterns and 'Happy New Year' banners to really celebrate the New Year.”
Mr Tong said the congregation usually put on refreshments after their Sunday service, which runs from 12pm until 3.30pm, but on Sunday they prepared a special banquet.

He said: “We had lots of food platters but we also had some special Chinese sweets and cakes like leen goh, which is like a rice cake, which we usually eat for New Year.
"And we had a buffet with lots of rice and noodle dishes."
