Fathers’ rights activist Martin Matthews and another protester Bobby Smith have been bailed after being arrested for climbing a Buckingham Palace roof.

Mr Matthews, from Great Bookham, and Bobby Smith, from Stevenage, breached security and used a ladder to climb onto the Queen’s Gallery at 3.15pm, New Fathers 4 Justice said.
Once he was on the roof, Mr Matthews unfurled a banner.

New Fathers 4 Justice said a third accomplice created a distraction outside the palace gates while Mr Matthews and Mr Smith scaled the building.
Metropolitan Police said both men were arrested for trespassing on a protected site but were later bailed, to return at a date in mid-February.

Mr Matthews said: "It was a good protest; we got a lot of publicity.
"There were armed guards watching us for a bit but they soon realised we weren’t dangerous.
"We might do another one soon, before Christmas. We’ll see."
Mr Smith said: "Christmas is the worst time of year to not be with your children.
"Everything reminds you of it - everything in the shops, the music, the adverts - so we wanted to do something to highlight that."

Mr Matthews has become well known in Epsom and Ewell for climbing the roof of MP Chris Grayling’s home and office six times in three years.
He has claimed Surrey Police gave him a ‘final warning’ after the last protest.
