Care home residents quizzed parliamentary candidates on everything from education and immigration to policing and the NHS when they visited for a hustings event last Friday.
Reigate and Banstead's Tory MP Crispin Blunt, Labour’s Ali Aklul, Liberal Democrat Anna Tarrant, the Greens' Jonathan Essex and UKIP’s Joe Fox all took part in the event at Sunrise of Banstead in Croydon Lane, Banstead.
Nathalie McLeish, the home's director of community relations, said: "This was a great way for our residents to hear from the person who will likely be representing them in Parliament after the election.
"A lot of them are very politically engaged and were eager to hear about each person’s plans should they be elected as MP for Reigate."
"It was interesting for the candidates to get an idea of the issues which older people are concerned by."
The questions asked by the residents included those on improving education standards and supporting university students, immigrants being a vital part of the UK's workforce, policing, controlling children's access to violent or pornographic material online, GP waiting times and understaffing in the NHS.
