Parents have been warned to take extra care after three children were tailed by a car as they made their way to school yesterday morning.
Danetree Junior School, in Danetree Road, Ewell, informed parents that the Year 5 students were followed while they were on Chessington Road.
James Broad, headteacher, said the police were informed immediately and the children concerned were interviewed.
In a statement to parents yesterday, he said: "As a result the police will be keeping a close eye on the area surrounding the school today and in the near future.
"They have advised all parents and carers to be vigilant and take any precautions you feel necessary to keep your children safe on the journey to and from school.
"If you have any concerns about any suspicious incidents contact the police on 101."
