Katapult Productions bringing Mr Micawber to Epsom Playhouse
An ever-optimistic character from novel David Copperfield is taking to the stage in Epsom to mark the 200th birthday of Charles Dickens.
Katapult Productions are touring a play featuring one of Dicken’s most celebrated characters - Wilkins Micawber, Esquire.
Actor David Barry has adapted the play from his novel Mr Micawber Down Under and is taking the title role at the Epsom Playhouse on November 10.
The touring play, entitled Mr Micawber, sees the optimistic character bid farewell to David Cooperfield and take his family to start a new life in Australia.
But more than optimism is needed to survive in the brash new world of Melbourne in 1855 as mystery begins to ensue.
Katapult, Kent’s professional touring theatre, recently toured spoof radio comedy, Dick Barton - Special Agent.
The latest play marks Barry’s return to the Playhouse after an absence of nearly 25 years.
