An elderly cyclist involved in a collision with a lorry in Walton this morning has died of his injuries.

The man is yet to be formally identified, but is believed to be a 79-year-old resident of the area.

Police were called to Rydens Road at about 7.30am following the collision between a skip lorry and pedal cycle.

The cyclist suffered a head injury and was taken by ambulance to St George’s Hospital in Tooting, where he has since died.

Rydens Road has re-opened and officers are continuing to appeal for anyone who witnessed the collision to contact Surrey Police by calling 101.
