Behind-the-scenes negotiations have begun in earnest to decide who will run Elmbridge Council after the Conservatives lost their majority of seats.
This year's elections, with votes counted yesterday at Sandown Park, saw leader John O'Reilly lose his seat and his party cede overall control following controversial ward boundary changes.
But not every ballot was a washout for the Tories - David Munro ousted the independent Kevin Hurley as Surrey's police and crime commissioner after second preference votes were counted.
In Elmbridge's new-look council the Conservatives hold 22 seats, the Liberal Democrats seven, and residents' associations have 19.
