Remembrance services are to be held across the borough this Sunday to remember those in the armed forces who have lost lives in the line of duty since the First World War.

A number of memorial services and parades are to be held by branches of the Royal British Legion on Remembrance Sunday, November 8, with memorials and silences to be held on Wednesday, November 11.

A two-minute silence will be observed at 11am at services across the borough.

East Molesey

A parade organised by the Royal British Legion will march up to the West Molesey war memorial in Walton Road at 10.30am where a service will begin at 10:45. A two-minute silence will be honoured at 11am. Another service is to be held later at the war memorial in Hurst Road by Molesey Lock at 2pm.

Walton

Residents will meet at the Walton War Memorial in Portsmouth Road for an Act of Remembrance at 10.55am which will be followed by a parade down the High Street to St Mary’s Church, where a service will be held at 11.30am.

Whiteley Village

A Remembrance Sunday service takes place at the housing village in Hersham at St Mark’s Church by the Royal British Legion at 10:45am, with a short memorial to be held outside the village hall, on November 11.

During Remembrance week, poems, readings and prayers are to be read at St Mark’s Church between 12 to 12.30pm, which members of the public are welcome to attend.

Cobham

A parade organised by the Royal British Legion will begin at the car park in Hollyhedge Road at 10.15am on Sunday, November 8, leading through Cobham High Street and finishing at St Andrew’s Church where a service will be held at 10.45am. Seating will be limited at the service.

On November 11, the branch will meet at the Avenue of Remembrance at the Tilt in Cobham where a memorial stands in honour of those who died in the Second World War. A short prayer and moment of silence will be held at 11am.
