Developers faced questions about increased traffic and drainage problems from the proposed building of 296 homes to fund the regeneration of Rydens Enterprise School (RES).

At a public exhibition for the current plans at the Hersham school on Tuesday, March 10, Terri West, who lives in Felcott Road, the proposed access point, said: "If I told you that the other morning I went out of my house at 7.40am and it took me a quarter of an hour to get to the end of my road, and that's before a new school is built.

"I know everybody says that the new school is needed but at what cost?"

Two residents of Stoke Road expressed concern about flood risks if the homes were approved.

Stephen Trenwith, land director at Bewley Homes plc, said Thames Water was carrying out a study and developers would incorporate features into the development to ensure surface water run offs are limited.

The development is part of the complete facelift planned for RES, as the new homes would provide the complete funding for a new school to be built.

Mr Trenwith, said: "I think it's a great opportunity for us to not only deliver much needed homes but also to be able to assist the school bring forward what is going to be an exceptional facility for the years going forward."

A public exhibition for the new school development is planned for Tuesday, March 17, at RES, from 4.30pm to 8.30pm.
