Twenty people were evacuated from the Hilton hotel in Croydon following a chemical leak.
Two men suffering from breathing difficulties were treated by paramedics after the alarm was raised yesterday afternon
Firefighters were called to the four-star hotel in Waddon Way at 4pm after concerns were raised about the smell of an unknown chemical.
Crews from Croydon and Wallington stations swept the building with specialist hazardous substance detection equipment and found a fridge in a first-floor room leaking a small amount of ammonia.
Firefighters sealed the fridge to make it safe and ventilated the room before leaving at 7pm.
London Ambulance Service treated the two men at the hotel.
