A stretch of footpath in Upper Norwood has been likened to a ‘war zone’.

The path, in Beulah Hill, was excavated three weeks ago but it has yet to be completed.

Croydon Council are carrying out the works and although guards were placed around the path, they have since blown over.

Councillor Pat Ryan, of Upper Norwood, said it was unacceptable that the path had been left in that state for such a long time.

He said: “The area is like a war zone. The guards have been blow over and pedestrians have to walk on the busy Beulah Hill to get by this area.

“This is exceptionally dangerous as people could get seriously injured or killed by the fast moving traffic."
