Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy visited students for tea and a poetry reading.
Duffy, who was the first female to be awarded the accolade, travelled from Manchester to meet pupils at Rosebery School in White Horse Drive, Epsom.
A selection of students were chosen to have tea with the poet before the reading of poems from two of her anthologies, which were later on sale - The World’s Wife and The Bees. Other pupils also had the chance to meet Duffy who was signing her books.
Year 10 student, Emma Thomas, said: "The visit was a great success and it is not something we will easily forget - it was an incredible evening that mixed the beauty, power and soulfulness of poetry with the strong, individual character that is our Poet Laureate, Carol Ann Duffy."
