Conscientious children in the borough have the lowest truancy rates in London, new figures have revealed.
Statistics from the Department for Education show there were just 95 unauthorised half day absences at state funded schools in Kingston.
Absentees were spread evenly between age groups with 47 primary and 48 secondary school children caught skiving off school.
Authorised absences were lower than most boroughs in the capital with 844 days missed, including time off for illness and term time family holidays.
Councillor Liz Green, who is in charge of schools in the borough, said the secret to the success was close working relationships between schools and families.
Despite the positives, the figures also revealed 738 children in the borough were persistently skipping school, although this was lower than most parts of the country.
Neighbouring boroughs Richmond, Merton and Sutton also fared well on the list with truancy rates well below the national average of 1.1 per cent.
