NHS Wandsworth is advising that another child from The Dolphin School in Battersea has tested positive for swine flu.

The school has been closed since Monday, May 4 after two pupils tested positive.

They are believed to have contracted the illness from an older sister who had recently returned from New York.

All the confirmed cases in Wandsworth are being treated at home.

Wandsworth Council said the school remains closed and all pupils and staff, whether symptomatic or not, are being given anti-viral drugs.

In a statement on their website, the council said: "The school will remain closed as a precautionary measure until at least Monday, May 11.

"NHS London has advised residents in the area that unless they have flu-like symptoms and are being tested for swine flu, there is no need to stop their normal everyday activities, such as going to work or school.

"If no children or staff are showing symptoms of the virus then schools and child care organisations should continue to operate as normal.

"A decision to close a school will only be taken by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) following a detailed risk assessment based on the latest information and evidence available.

"NHS London continues to work closely with the HPA and local health organisations to take all the necessary action to contain further outbreaks in the capital.

"If you or someone you know is worried about swine flu visit www.nhs.uk where there is information and advice about swine flu and what precautions you should be taking.

"They can also call the swine flu information line on 0800 1 513 513."

The NHS is advising people take the following steps to prevent the spread of the flu:
• Cover your nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing and use a tissue whenever possible
• Dispose of dirty tissues promptly and carefully
• Maintain good basic hygiene, for example wash your hands frequently with soap and water to reduce the spread of the virus from your hands to face or to other people
• Make sure your children follow this advice
• Clean hard surfaces like door handles frequently using a normal cleaning product.
