Pupils from five decades came together under one roof to celebrate their school’s golden anniversary.

St Paul’s Catholic Primary School, Thames Ditton, celebrated their 50th anniversary on Saturday, September 14, and hosted a day of celebrations to commemorate the occasion.

Past and present pupils started the day by attending a celebration mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Church before heading next door for a tour of the school.

Classrooms were set up by decades so pupils could meet former classmates, with many exchanging stories and photographs from their time at the school.

A number of school memorabilia were laid out for pupils past and present to enjoy.

Fionnuala Johnson, headteacher at St Paul’s, said: “I am absolutely thrilled with how it all went and I had a lot of positive feedback from people saying it was lovely to be back and how nice the school is.”

Mrs Johnson said she was inundated with thanks for celebrations. She said: “The thanks was for the amount of effort we have made and the memories St Paul’s created.”

Mrs Johnson joined the school in 1990 and helped the school achieve an outstanding Ofsted inspection result in March 2008.

The school has been on its Hampton Court Way site since 1963 and in the past 50 years, pupil numbers and the number of buildings have increased.
