England rugby star Ugo Monye reckons the person who returned his wallet to Kingston police station deserves a medal.

The 29-year-old Harlequins winger mislaid his valuables in Kingston town centre during a shopping trip last Friday morning, forcing him to cancel a host of credit and debit cards.

But Monye was surprised to receive a phone call from the boys in blue later that day telling him his wallet had been returned with everything intact.

He said: “I have no idea how or where I lost it, but I was very surprised to get it back. I never expected to see it again.

“It is nice to see there is still some honesty in this day and age and I would love to give the person who returned it some sort of award.

“There was nothing of any great value in it apart from my driver’s licence and credit cards, but it is just the hassle of it all.

“I cancelled everything anyway just to be safe, but I’m grateful to get it back.

“I have been having to carry bundles of cash around with me for the time being and have been getting some dodgy looks.”

Monye even took to social networking platform Twitter to thank his unknown hero.

He tweeted: “Big thank u to whoever handed in my wallet into Kingston police station. “Great to see that ;) Whoever u are, u are blessed X.”

A Quins player since 2002, Monye has appeared 13 times for England and has also featured twice for the British and Irish Lions.
