A fireman sexually assaulted a woman after a Christmas party while in fancy dress, a court heard.

Anthony Woodvine, 27, an England international at Korfball, a cross between netball and basketball, allegedly crept into the female dormitory after a party at Clapham fire station while the woman was asleep.

Inner London Crown Court heard on Tuesday, September 18, that the woman woke to find him touching her in December last year and shouted: “Oi, f*** off, you are in big trouble now!”

The court heard that Mr Woodvine, of St John’s Road, Carshalton, had gone out in fancy dress following a Christmas lunch at Clapham fire station.

Scott Brady, prosecuting, told jurors the woman, who was not a firefighter, was sleeping in the dormitory.

Mr Brady said: “When the defendant arrived back with a colleague he went to have some cold turkey that was left from earlier."

“What then happened, say the Crown, is that the defendant entered the female dorm.”

The court heard that after having a “vivid dream” the woman woke up to find Mr Woodvine on the floor next to her bed.

Mr Brady told the court: “When she realised what had happened she said to the defendant ‘Oi, f*** off, you are in big trouble now!’ and the defendant left the room.

“She told the police that there had been no flirting or ‘coming on’ activity earlier in the evening towards the defendant.”

When Mr Woodvine was arrested he admitted touching her but said it was consensual.

Mr Brady said: “He said that he saw he eyes were open and he though that she was awake.

“He said that as he was touching her she was also moaning in pleasure, and therefore he thought she was consenting.”

The prosecutor told the court that Mr Woodvine did not remember being told to “F off” and when she said “No Tony, stop it” he left.

Mr Woodvine denies the single count of assault by penetration.

The trial continues.
