An elderly man has been hospitalised after a collision between a skip lorry and cyclist this morning.
Rydens Road has been closed between Devoke Way and Walton Park after the collision at about 7.30am.
The rider, a man in his 70s, suffered a head injury and was taken to St George’s Hospital, Tooting.
Ken Emerson, who lives at the junction of Ambleside Avenue and Rydens Road, said: “I didn’t hear a thing this morning. I was awake at 7.25am, so it must have happened before then.
“I didn’t hear any crash, or any police cars arriving, or any heavy breakdown trucks moving damaged cars.
“The road was still closed at 9.45am.”
Police said the road would remain closed at the junctions with Devoke Way, Ambleside Avenue and Meadowside while an investigation is carried out.
Anyone who witnessed the collision to contact Surrey Police's Collision Investigation Unit by calling 101.
