Motor scooter thieves hit the students’ car park at Brooklands College last month.

They made away with three scooters by returning again and again to add to their haul.

Engineering student Sam Pepperrell, 17, came out of a lesson to find his one-month old scooter had been stolen.

His mum Amanda said it was not insured against theft and could not be replaced.

She said: “When these kids go to college, although the college doesn’t take any responsibility for vehicles, they should feel that their vehicles are safe when they are in class.

“I think the college should have a bit more sympathy. They’ve said they are very sorry and are talking about moving mopeds to the staff car park, but it’s too late now.

“He’d only had it a month and I still owe £900 for it, he’s absolutely gutted.”

The thefts took place between 9.15am and 1.45pm according to Surrey Police.

A police spokesman said: “Members of the public reported that two men had entered the college car park on a scooter and had then removed several mopeds which were parked and secured in the car park.

“The mopeds which were stolen are described as a black and silver Piaggio Typhoon, a white Piaggio Zip and a black and white Gilera Runner.”

The white Piaggio Zip had distinctive Monster energy drink stickers over it.

The Weybridge college handed CCTV to police and asked students if they saw anything suspicious.

Scooters used to be parked in an area closer to the college building, but because of noise issues and drivers building up speed around the campus roads they were moved to the student car park.

A college spokesman said: “Students are made aware that the college is not responsible for vehicles left in the student car park.

“The college already has plans in place to make a significant improvement to student parking facilities over the summer.”
