Families shared the excitement of the London 2012 Olympic Games by trying new sports at a Leisure Live event.

Professional sportsmen and women offered demonstrations at Brooklands Community Park on Saturday, June 23, and let visitors have a go themselves.

Wimbledon enthusiasts tried their hand at tennis while others took advantage of one of the new table tennis tables soon to be installed at five different locations across the borough.

Volleyball, football, basketball, martial arts, a mountain bike challenge and scootathon were also on offer and children fought for medals with bags of enthusiasm.

Councillor Jan Fuller said: “It was a great day out for families to get into the spirit of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

“There was something to try for everyone. Adults and children made the most of the activities on offer and had an amazing time.”

Leisure Live 2012 formed part of Elmbridge Celebrates festival - a series of sport, health and cultural activities and events organised in Elmbridge throughout 2012 to inspire people to lead healthier lifestyles.
