Young people are being offered free activities and the chance to share their views about the borough at a fun-packed event.

The Youth Leisure Day (YLD) festival, for those aged 11 to 17 in Epsom and Ewell, will be held on Saturday, July 7, from 12pm to 4pm at Rosebery Park in Epsom.

It is being hosted by the council in partnership with youth organisations from across the area.

This year’s event, YLD Xtreme, will offer activities such as a climbing wall, the Human Demolition Zone laser game, sport tasters and a rodeo bull.

Live music will be provided by local bands and the entertainment will include a BMX stunt display team, a street magician, caricaturist, stalls and free running demonstrations.

Youngsters will also have the chance to talk to the council’s leisure team about issues they feel are important to them.

Councillor Jan Mason, chairwoman of the leisure committee, said: "This is a brilliant event that will give young people the chance to get involved in a range of activities, simply catch up with friends, listen to music or watch the displays.

"I would like to encourage all young people to come along and enjoy their day."
