A huge artwork will hang on a house on the Olympic cycle race route with an uplifting message of support.

The painting shows British cyclist Mark Cavendish in Union Jack gear, while the other cyclists in the picture are in black and white.

The image was taken by Walton resident and art tutor Corinne Manches at last year’s test run and her students at mental health charity Walton and Weybridge Advocacy Group (WWAG) turned it into an impressive 8ftx4ft painting.

The poster, which says Go Cavendish Go – WWAG supports you, will hang on the first floor of Mrs Manches’ house in Terrace Road for the races on July 27 and 28.

WWAG is a charity that supports people with mental health issues by providing group sessions, social activities, employment initiatives and befriending services.

Mrs Manches holds art groups each Tuesday for WWAG.

A spokesman said: “Her enthusiasm and passion encourages motivation and enjoyment, identifies talent and has generated life changing results.

“Through art people begin to take personal responsibility for their own recovery and reclaim their lives.”
