Firefighters called to deliberate blaze in communal cupboard
Three flats were evacuated after a fire was deliberately started in a communal cupboard.
Firefighters from Croydon fire station were called to Renown Close at about 2.30am, to reports of a blaze in the communal corridor.
One elderly man was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.
A fire rescue unit and an accelerant detection dog were also sent to the scene.
Police are investigating.
