People suffering from physical and mental disabilities are set to benefit from new leisure facilities at a care centre.
Developers have now completed the first stage of refurbishment at the Dulwich Care Centre in Knollys Road, Streatham Hill.
The mayor of Lambeth, Councillor Clive Bennett, unveiled a commemorative plaque at the centre, which provides care for 93 people, on Tuesday, May 29.
The plans will create space for 46 extra beds, as well as an art rehabilitation centre.
Director John Cunningham said: “Even though it had won awards when it was first built, times have changed which is why the centre is undergoing this extensive refurbishment programme.
“There’s a lively activity programme on site and these new spaces we’re creating will give people more choice as well as the chance to socialise together more frequently.”
