An 88-year-old woman celebrated a big birthday with her even bigger family of 104 descendants.

May Chappell, from Sutton has an incredible 10 children, 37 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

She celebrated her 88th birthday with a big celebration in Morden in the Emmanuel Church hall on Saturday, May 26.

They played family quizzes and they even had a lottery game where members of the family picked a year from 1924-2012 to win a prize.

It was announced on the day that Mrs Chappell has another great great grandchild on the way.

Her daughter, Mary Lowe, 66 from Wallington said: "It was lovely - we all had a really good day.

"We think there were 168 of us; one or two we would class as friends but most were family.

"Up to a few years ago she would still make cakes for the grandchildren but now there is so many of us.

"She knows the faces of all the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

"She is still very with it."

Mrs Lowe said her mother had never raised her voice to any of them and would cook all different dinners for her brothers who wanted different things.
