A Royal Marine bugler will herald the arrival of the Queen at the river pageant on Sunday with a trumpet fanfare.
Sergeant Bugler Sean Donoghue, who is from Epsom but now lives in Devon, is one of eight buglers who will act as herald trumpeters sounding a fanfare as the royal party embarks the Royal Barge and then each time the boat passes under one of the bridges on its route.
The 42-year-old, serving with the Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines Plymouth based at HMS Raleigh in Cornwall, is the most senior of the herald trumpeters.
He said: "I’m extremely proud to be taking part in the pageant. It’s an honour and I’d say it will be the pinnacle of my career.
"I’m confident that as a team we will perform to the high standards expected of Royal Marines buglers."
The river procession will begin at 2pm, starting up-river of Battersea Bridge and finishing at Tower Bridge.
