Pupils at a primary school have shown themselves to be world beaters, taking on and beating rivals from across the globe at maths, spelling and science.
Competing against 55,000 schools world-wide Park Hill Junior School’s four to seven year-olds proved the best in Europe in all three categories and second in the world in spelling and science.
The eight to tens also earned honours as best in Europe for science, second at spelling and fifth at maths.
Teacher Simon Yearley, said: "Our teams’ success was also matched by some outstanding individual performances with Leila Tariq, Krishan Sriskandaraj, Winifred Ayedun, Nikhil Chidipothu, Ben Martinez, Tabassum Malik and Varun Jain all achieving top 50 worldwide finishes."
Provided with usernames and passwords the competitors were set challenges to tackle online to prove their skills.
The teams were rewarded with a visit from the Mayor of Croydon and CEO of Mathletics UK at a special ceremony on Tuesday May 29.
