People are being advised to "get the right treatment" if they are unwell over the upcoming bank holiday weekend.
With many GPs and dental practices closed from the evening of Friday, June 1, up to and including June 5, people are being advised to replenish the medicine cabinet at home, so it is stocked if they suffer minor illness or injury.
Residents are reminded they can call NHS 111, a new non-emergency telephone service for those in need of urgent treatment for an illness or injury.
Community pharmacies will generally be open and walk in-centres, and minor injury units are another alternative.
Dr David Finch, Joint Medical Director for NHS South West London said: "During the bank holidays there is increased pressure on health services so it is extremely important for patients to make the right decisions on accessing healthcare and use NHS services sensibly."
