Police patrols outside Epsom schools have been stepped up after a series of suspicious incidents outside schools in neighbouring Kingston.

Last Thursday, May 17, a man and a woman are alleged to have approached a girl while she was getting water from a fountain at Grand Avenue Primary School in Surbiton.

Two other incidents were reported on Monday, May 20.

A young boy was allegedly grabbed by a man outside Knollmead Primary School, in Tolworth, at 9.10am, but he struggled free.

At 3.15pm on the same day, a man was seen on a push bike weaving in and out of cars in the public car park at the front of a primary school in Worcester Park - an area bordering Epsom.

Police investigating the incidents originally believed two were linked, but have now said this is unlikely.

A Surrey police spokeswoman said today that the public can be assured that extra security measures are being taken.

She said: "We are reassuring parents and schools that we are aware of these incidents and that the police are conducting targeted patrols outside the schools in Epsom.

"We are in close contact with the schools and the Met Police who are leading the investigation into the other incidents and want the public to know that we are taking the allegations seriously and responding appropriately."
