Twenty vehicles were seized and over 500 cars stopped in Croydon as police crack down on uninsured drivers.

As part of the ninth Operation Cubo took pace on May 24, officers across the borough targeted uninsured drivers to disrupt criminal activity.

Three people arrested in Croydon were arrested in connection with immigration, fraud and possession of cannabis offences.

Officers were supported by Traffic Territorial Support Group, Safer Transport Command and other teams in the co-ordinated series of operations, which included road-side check points.

Across London a total of 555 cars were seized at 85 people were arrested as part of the operation, which was launched in October 2011.

Operation Cubo 'silver', chief Superintendent Rob Jones said: "The ninth Operation Cubo achieved excellent results.

Over four and a half thousand vehicles have now been seized on Cubo operations, removing uninsured vehicles from our streets."
