Was it wise for the Guardian to print the article from Mr Mohammed Siddique, regarding his comments on the chosen charity 'Help for Heroes' in support of the Woodmansterne May Queen Fete, as it may be seen to incite racial hatred and stir up resentment against the local Muslim community?

As a Christian, I am deeply offended by his comments, at a time when we should all show some compassion to all people wounded in conflict.

The charity does not glorify the role of war. They didn't volunteer to be wounded.

I would also guess that most of our Service personnel would rather not be involved in the first place. Clearly the charity is non-political and evolved to help wounded service personnel rehabilitate - to suggest that recovery leads to further service at the front line is extremely doubtful in most cases.

I suggest he visits Headley Court to witness the degree of injuries some of these servicemen and women have, and he would see that in no way can they lead a normal life ever again. John Mitton (ex-serviceman), West Ewell
