The fire was at Sutton Court
A 28-year-old man is due in court this morning charged with arson with intent to endanger life.
Lee Songhurst is accused of setting fire to the flat where he was living in Sutton Court, Brighton Road, Sutton on May 12.
A fire completely gutted the bedroom and left the flat badly smoke damaged.
One resident of the three-storey block of flats reported seeing a huge cloud of thick smoke pouring from the flat.
Fire crews from Sutton, Wallington and Croydon fire stations attended.
