Volunteers at a gardening project planted seeds and cut back weeds last weekend as they took another step in their plans to create a completely organic bus stop.

Members of the Edible Bus Stop group were out in force at the site on Landor Road, Brixton, to transform the shelter near Lambeth Hospital into a natural paradise.

The group, which has already developed another patch in West Norwood, hopes to continue the initiative along the 322 bus route through Clapham, Herne Hill, Tulse Hill and Gipsy Hill.

Saturday’s gardening activities were part of the Chelsea Fringe Festival – a London wide event which promotes horticulture during the Chelsea Flower Show and Open Garden Squares Weekend.
