Police are appealing for witnesses after an off-duty officer was assaulted trying to break up a fight in Croydon.

The incident took place in the High Street, opposite the Black Sheep Bar, at about 9pm on April 26.

The officer saw a fight going on at the location and identified herself as an officer to intervene. As she tried to break up the fight, a woman from the group assaulted her.

The suspect is described as a white woman in her late teens with dark hair.

She was wearing a grey top, with Mickey Mouse on the front and was in the company of three men, who had a dog with them.

DC Grant Gable, investigating, said: "The off-duty officer tried to intervene, but when she did she was a victim of an assault herself.

"We are appealing for anyone who may have seen this incident, or who might know the identity of those involved to speak to us or to phone Crimestoppers."
