These pictures show how a multi-million pound project to make a railway station fully accessible could eventually look.

Transport bosses hope the overhaul of Crystal Palace station will make it more user-friendly and safe.

Commuters met with Transport for London staff on May 16 to discuss the progress of the £3.5million redevelopment.

Builders are busy installing three lifts for disabled users and people with buggies, as well as improved CCTV, information screens, signage and a PA system.

Work is expected to be completed in early 2013 for the 11,000 passengers who use the station every day.

Val Shawcross, London Assembly member for Lambeth and Southwark, welcomed the move.

She said: “Local people in Crystal Palace have called for these improvements for a really long time and I have been happy to support them.

“Crystal Palace is a wonderful station but it is currently arguably the least accessible station in London, so I am pleased customers can now get a taste of what is to come.”
