A member of staff at Sutton Tennis Acedemy has found himself the envy of British medal hope Mo Farah after claiming a new Olympic stadium 5,000m record.

Paskar Owar, 31, won the 5,000m at the new Olympic Stadium in Stratford over the May Bank Holiday weekend whilst competing for Belgrave Harriers Athletics Club.

Owar, a duty officer at Sutton Tennis Academy, was competing in The British University and Colleges Sport Outdoor Athletics Championships.

The Ugandan athlete has represented his country on numerous occasions, most notably taking a Bronze medal at the IAAF World Junior Athletics Championships in 1998 and reaching the Semi-Finals of the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur in the same year.

For the last seven years Paskar has been training in the UK at the Belgrave Harriers Athletics Club and is currently studying Sports Coaching Practice on a sports scholarship at Roehampton University.

Sutton Tennis Academy Founder, Keith Sohl, said: "We are so pleased to hear of Paskar’s success. With our future plans for The Sports Village which include a diversification into sports other than tennis, someone like Paskar is a great role model for our young members and an example of what can be achieved if you work hard enough."
