A tree surgeon is taking his performance skills to dizzy new heights to raise money for a charity that helped cure his mother of breast cancer.

Ben Trevor has set himself a tall challenge to raise money for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

The 32-year-old father of two, from Walton, has a band called Bommerillo, which reached number one in the Amazon country chart, but his latest challenge is a solo one.

He has planned to climb to the top of the tallest tree in Surrey, a 140ft Douglas fir beside the A24 in Dorking.

While he is up there he will grab a guitar and perform a solo concert, which will be filmed and put on YouTube to raise awareness of the campaign.

Mr Trevor said: “If this climb is a success, and we can capture the imaginations of the public and the media, I will go on to climb and play songs at the top of the tallest tree in the UK, and then the world.”

He has already passed his fundraising target of £1,000, but was pushing to raise as much as he can ahead of the performance on June 2.

Rock star John Parr has also gave his support to the campaign and offered to write a song to accompany it.
